Requirements
- Requirements for LPC and LISW-CP in SC LPC: An applicant for licensure as a professional counselor supervisor must: Apply to forms approved by the Board, along with the required fee; and Hold a current, active, and unrestricted South Carolina Professional Counselor License; and Either (a) or (b): (a) hold a doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision, or (b) provide: (i) evidence acceptable to the Board of at least five (5) years of continuous clinical
- experience immediately preceding the application; and (ii) evidence of a minimum of thirty-six (36) hours of individual/triadic supervision over no less than two years, by a Board-licensed professional counselor supervisor, of the applicant’s supervision of at least two (2) and no more than six (6) licensed professionals counselor associates; and (iii) evidence of a minimum of three (3) semester hours of graduate study in supervision oriented to their discipline or training approved by the Board.
- LISW-CP: be a Licensed Independent Social Worker-Clinical Practice; have successfully passed an examination prescribed by the board; have a minimum of four thousand five hundred hours of clinical practice earned over not less than three years beyond receipt of a LISW-CP; have obtained forty-five academic contact hours or forty-five continuing education contact hours in supervision.
- Provider will receive a code to document their supervision hours, and will be required to complete recording documentation of such supervision.
- Entering text or data into a computer through a traditional keyboard is also a requirement.

- Compensation: For Clinical Caseload: Clinician will receive Fee For Service rates with bonus potential (ex. 90837 could be $45.25 to $52.49 depending on caseload) For Supervision: Provider will be compensated at a rate of fifty-four dollars and thirty-seven cents ($54.37) per Group Supervision session and seventy dollars and sixty-seven ($70.67) per Individual Supervision session.
- In the event that the 90837-session code compensation is greater than the individual supervision rate, the 90837 rate (vs code) will be used.
