Responsibilities
- - Design and optimize radiation shielding for mixed neutron and gamma environments.
- - Conduct experimental validation of neutron and gamma detection systems.
- - Perform radiation transport analysis to improve system performance and safety.
- - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on fusion technology development and radiation safety initiatives.
Requirements
- Fusers have built and licensed Magical Unicorn and FAETON I, 2 novel pulsed power generators.
- Experience working in a combined neutron and gamma radiation environment, as found in fusion systems, is highly advantageous.
- The candidate will work closely with physicists, engineers, and regulatory teams to enhance radiation transport simulations, detector performance, and measurement accuracy. Key
- Qualifications & Skills - Master’s or PhD in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or a related field. - Strong
- experience in Monte Carlo particle transport simulations (MCNP, Geant4, FLUKA, etc.). - Hands-on
- experience with neutron and gamma detection techniques. - Knowledge of radiation shielding, dose calculations, and safety assessments. -
- Experience in radiation metrology and calibration techniques. - Proficiency in data analysis and programming (Python, MATLAB, C++, etc.). - Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (CNSC, NRC, IAEA standards). Preferred Qualifications -
- Experience working in a fusion/fission facilities or similar combined neutron-gamma radiation environment. - Background in high-energy neutron/Gamma transport and shielding. - Knowledge of advanced radiation detection technologies. Additional
