Requirements
- As a clinical associate, you will provide basic clinical services to patients and clerical support to the unit health-care team. Carilion Children's Pediatrics is a 24 bed unit that provides specialized care to patients from birth to 18 years of age.
- Please note - employee must attend mandatory orientation classes during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm for the first 2 weeks of employment.
- All classes require to be in person except for 2 online classes. What We Require: Education: High school graduate or GED.
- Experience: none Licensure, certification, and/or registration: none unless the following: Critical Access Area - Certified Nursing Assistant is required.
- Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required. Other Minimum

- Patient populations consist of general medical and surgical conditions that require inpatient services and also serves as a step down unit when necessary.
- The patient population consists of, but is not limited to, diabetes, respiratory illness, oncology, general and neurological surgeries, intestinal disorders, seizures, infectious disease, cardiac abnormalities and trauma.
- This position is FLEX, working the day/evening/night shift with every other weekend and rotating holidays Welcomes and assists patients and visitors with registration.
- May assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Coordinates patient flow into/out of area using department/unit specific software and Intranet.
- Schedules patient therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
- May review medical records for outstanding orders and notifies nurse of stat orders and medication changes.
- Cleans unit-based equipment and gathers supplies needed to operate equipment between patients as needed.
- Transports patients, supplies specimens and equipment within the facility.
- May perform unit-based patient care tasks for patients.
