Requirements
Amplitude is the leading AI analytics platform, helping over 4,700 customers—including Atlassian, Burger King, NBCUniversal, and Square—build better products and digital experiences.
With powerful AI Agents embedded across our platform, teams can analyze, test, and optimize user experiences faster than ever.
We're looking for a Staff AI Engineer to help advance Amplitude's AI products and the foundations they're built on.
As AI reshapes how customers analyze data, build products, and act on insights, we need engineers who can move fluidly between deep technical work and product judgment, shipping AI capabilities that customers and internal teams actually rely on.
You'll identify where AI creates the most leverage, build the systems that deliver it, and establish the patterns that let the rest of the company build faster on top of your work.
You'll contribute to customer-facing AI products, the platform infrastructure beneath them, and the internal tooling that helps Amplitude operate as an AI-native company. What You'll Do
Set technical direction for AI systems at Amplitude, making thoughtful build vs. buy calls, shaping evaluation strategy, and influencing the long-term roadmap Who You Are
You're a highly capable engineer with a strong track record of shipping AI-powered systems that people actually use.
You bring deep technical instincts, strong product sense, and a forward-thinking view of where AI is heading.
Experience designing and scaling AI products, platforms, or developer tools with real users and real reliability constraints
Deep familiarity with the modern AI ecosystem: model APIs, agent frameworks, evals, retrieval, prompting, tool use, and the tradeoffs between them
Excellent communicator and collaborator, able to drive alignment across engineering, design, product, and go-to-market How You Think & Work
Leverage mindset: You see AI as a way to reshape how teams and customers think, plan, and execute, not just a feature to bolt on
Context is key: You understand that AI is most powerful when grounded in real data, workflows, and decisions
Systems thinking: You see across disparate tools, data sources, and teams, and connect them into cohesive, contextual AI-powered experiences
Product thinking: You blend technical execution with product intuition to build AI experiences that people genuinely love to use Our values:
Our customers love us! They've said we're the #1 product analytics solution for 23 quarters in a row on G2.
We care a lot about product innovation. We've made significant investments in talent and infrastructure to build the most powerful AI analytics platform on the market.
