Requirements

  • Qualifications Post-secondary education in a related field 10 years of related
  • experience working in the energy, mining, forestry, or other capital-intensive sectors in people-facing roles or
  • experience in government, including Indigenous governments An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Experience engaging with Indigenous Nations and working with representatives and community members to resolve complex and often contentious issues Proven people-leadership and development skills; able to lead programs with strong resource management abilities Direct
  • experience and in-depth knowledge of Indigenous Relations issues, concerns and approaches to create opportunities to generate mutual benefit Preferred
  • experience Ability to manage emerging and unpredictable events in a time sensitive and constructive manner This position requires candidates to: Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training will be required (estimated up to 50% of work schedule) Be part of an on-call rotation and provide emergency support as required To remain competitive, support our high-performance culture

  • The Opportunity Our Canadian External Relations Group is currently looking to add a Team Lead, Indigenous Relations to lead our Southern Alberta Indigenous Relations Team, based in Edmonton or Calgary, AB (we are open to considering various other locations in Alberta).
  • Reporting to the Manager, Indigenous Relations Canada, this position will manage the day-to-day work of our Indigenous Relations teams in Southern Alberta.
  • The team is externally facing and focused on the delivery of an outcomes-based approach to engagement with Indigenous communities and is mission-driven and solutions-oriented, seeking ways to align the interests of TC Energy with Indigenous groups.
  • The position will manage a geographically disparate team that spends most of their time in Indigenous communities located near our assets.
  • Effective Indigenous economic participation and engagement is a key component of TC Energy's approach to reconciliation.
  • Although this position reports to the Manager, the role requires a very close working/collaborative relationship with relevant TC Energy business units across leadership levels.
