- ABOUT THIS ROLE: At Astronomer, we’re on a mission to make Apache Airflow the go-to standard for data orchestration, and our R&D team is at the heart of it.
- We’re looking for a Software Engineer (Early Career / Recent Grad) join our Astro Core Services team, where you’ll work on core systems that power Astro’s Public API, authentication, billing, alerting frameworks, and ensure the platform is reliable, scalable, and maintainable.
- - A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- - Exposure to at least one backend programming language (Go, Python, Java, etc.) through coursework, internships, or personal projects.
- - Familiarity with SQL databases.
- - Foundational understanding of distributed systems concepts.
- - Familiarity with software development best practices, such as code reviews, testing, version control, and debugging. -
- Experience leveraging AI coding assistants and LLMs (e.g., Claude, Cursor, Gemini) to accelerate development — from prototyping and automated testing to code refactoring and documentation.
- experience in a software engineering role. - Contributions to open source projects. -
- Experience with Go specifically. -
- Experience with Apache Airflow or related workflow orchestrators.

- The estimated salary for this role ranges from $140,000 - $170,000 based on leveling and geography, along with an equity component and a comprehensive benefits package.
