- experience into clear fallback frameworks that empower the team to move decisively LEGAL OPERATIONS & SYSTEMS - Implement and optimize CLM systems to track agreements, key terms, and renewal cycles - Build dashboards providing real-time visibility into deal flow and bottlenecks - Lead development of templates, automation, and workflows that streamline the commercial lifecycle - Lead refresh of contract templates to reflect new products, AI capabilities, and data governance
- requirements IF YOU HAVE SOME OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING, PLEASE APPLY: - J.D. from an accredited law school; active bar membership in good standing - 3–5 years of post-admission
- experience in commercial law, with a focus on enterprise SaaS agreements and complex B2B transactions - Demonstrable
- experience managing high-volume deal flows independently, including deals on customer paper with structural amendments - A track record of building things,not just advising on them - Genuine fluency in legal technology;
- experience with CLM platforms (Ironclad, Salesforce-native, or equivalent) is a plus - Working knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, and AI governance
- experience using AI tools to accelerate contract drafting and review—such as Claude, Harvey, Ironclad AI, or similar—and a genuine interest in pushing the boundaries of what those tools can do in a commercial legal context - An eye for the systemic—you naturally think about how to make the next deal faster before the current one has closed AI FLUENCY AT BETTERUP At BetterUp, we’re building an AI-enabled organization where continuous reinvention is a core value.
- As a Sr Legal Counsel, you’ll: - Drive functional strategy for AI adoption within the Legal team, identifying opportunities that create competitive advantage in how commercial work gets done - Build scalable AI-powered approaches to contract review, risk triage, and deal acceleration that fundamentally change team throughput - Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on AI capabilities, limitations, and strategic implications in commercial contracting and legal operations - Establish governance frameworks

- This role is required to be in our SF Bay Area Hub lcoation. - Hybrid Expectation: You will be expected to work from your local office at least 3 days per week and should be able to realistically commit to this structure before applying.
