Requirements

Experience: Must be proficient in both written and spoken English and must be proficient in sign language with 1 to 2 years of
experience in a healthcare setting as anmedical interpreter with proficiency in medical terminology.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Successful completion/certification as Medical Interpreter (by an agency which is recognized by Carilion) is required or must be obtained prior to hire. 10 Hours of continuing education required annually National Certification preferred but not required. Other Minimum
Qualifications: Excellent interpersonal skills: Ability to remain calm when dealing with difficult people and crisis situations.
Interprets with highest degree of accuracy and completeness in consecutive, simultaneous and sight translation modes.
