Responsibilities
- Record meter readings, compute consumption, and leave self-reading card when required.
- Record special hazards on meter reading sheets to facilitate future meter readings.
- Report gas leaks to service department immediately.
- Report daily, all unusual conditions needing attention; such as, illegal connections, bad service connections, broken meter glass, vacant premises where service is still on, errors in revenue classifications, unusual consumption, and meter changes not yet in meter book.
- Make special trips to reread meters and obtain readings of meters which were missed on regular schedules.
- Prepare departmental reports as required.
- Operate Company or private vehicle in performance of duties to transport meter readers.
- Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.
- Direct and instruct employees assigned to work with him.
- Perform similar or less skilled work in this classification or, when the diversity of work load requires, perform similar or less skilled work in equal or lower classifications.
- Perform duties in accordance with the Company's safety rules and operating regulations and practices.
- Report any unsafe conditions and take actions to prevent personal injuries.
- Support our interdependent safety culture by ensuring the safety of your co-workers.
Requirements
- Successful bidders who are not qualified will be required to attend five (5) days of training at the LaPorte Training Center.
- Also, employee will be required to drive his/her personal vehicle.
- Successful bidders into this position must successfully complete Aptitude Tests per Article 10, Section 25, except employees who are qualified and currently holding the bid classification will not be required to take the test.
- Qualifications for Position Have a High School Diploma, or the equivalent.
