Responsibilities

Define and execute the technical strategy and roadmap for CLEAR’s member-facing platforms, including membership, identity proofing and biometrics
Lead and develop a team of Engineering Managers and senior ICs, building a high-performing organization focused on growth, accountability, and impact
Own vendor strategy and integrations across our CRM ensuring cost efficiency, reliability, and scalability
Establish and uphold engineering standards, driving best practices in system design, reliability, observability, and operational excellence
Building and sustaining high-performance teams with a focus on accountability and continuous improvement

4+ years of leading and scaling engineering organizations, managing managers and teams of 20+ engineers

The total compensation range for this role is $435,000-$535,000 depending on levels of skills and experience.
This range represents the combined base salary, annual bonus incentive, and new hire equity package (in Restricted Stock Units) for this position at CLEAR.
Additionally, this role will be eligible for refresh equity grants as part of our ongoing compensation program.
Actual compensation will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, location, education, skills, experience, and performance.
All stock based compensation will be subject to the terms and conditions of applicable agreements.

As the Director of Engineering of our Members Platform, you will lead the organization responsible for delivering seamless, secure, and frictionless consumer experiences for CLEAR’s members.
You will own the platforms powering membership, identity proofing and biometrics—driving strategy, execution, and operational excellence at scale. What you’ll do:
Partner cross-functionally with Product, Security, and Engineering leadership to align on priorities, architecture, and delivery of secure, scalable solutions
Platform reliability and performance, including uptime, latency, and scalability of member-facing systems
Delivery against roadmap commitments and successful execution of strategic platform initiatives
Cost optimization and efficiency across vendor platforms and infrastructure
Strength and growth of the engineering organization, including retention, engagement, and leadership development
