Electrical Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Support system integration activities, including electrical circuit design, power management, signal processing, RF design, stepper motor control, and hardware-software interfaces.
  • Define and execute test methods using lab equipment and debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters.
  • Support pre-clinical and clinical evaluations to verify electrical reliability and performance.
  • Collaborate with contract manufacturers and suppliers to meet electrical specifications and implement basic improvements.

Requirements

  • This role requires technical proficiency in electrical design, embedded systems, and compliance with medical device standards (e.g., IEC 62304, IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-2-2, IEC 60601-1-2, ISO 13485, ISO 14971).
  • Certification Support: Support coordination of electrical safety (IEC 60601-1), safety of HF Surgical Equipment (IEC 60601-2-2), and EMC (IEC 60601-1-2) certification testing.
  • What will you need to be successful? Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in electrical engineering or a relevant discipline.
  • Experience : Minimum 2+ years with a BS degree or 1 year with an MS degree in Electrical Engineering with strong hands-on experience, preferably in medical device development or other regulated industries.
  • Experience with embedded systems (RTOS or bare-metal) and basic project involvement in R&D for electrical components is a plus.
  • Proficiency in electronics design (embedded systems, mixed-signal, analog, digital, RF, high-frequency layout), simulation, and testing.
  • Knowledge of C/C++ for embedded firmware; familiarity with electrical design tools, LabVIEW, and debugging equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters).
  • Understanding of medical device standards (e.g., IEC 62304, IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-2-2, IEC 60601-1-2, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, FDA/MDR guidance).
  • Experience with electrical systems in electrosurgical or other medical devices, PCBA manufacturing, and basic embedded environments.
  • Good communication skills to work in cross-functional teams.
