Develop engineering designs, cost estimates, and construction drawings for pipeline, measurement, regulation, and transmission facilities.
Design small‑ and large‑scale facilities in compliance with company standards, industry standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.
Conduct field visits to evaluate site conditions and support project design and execution.
Support Engineering and Operations personnel during and outside of standard business hours, as needed, to troubleshoot equipment and material issues and develop effective solutions.
Prepare, maintain, and standardize engineering designs and drawings for regulation, measurement, and transmission facilities.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external industry partners to ensure effective, consistent, and compliant technical solutions.

Qualifications Gas Systems Design Engineer I Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET‑accredited program. 1+ year of relevant

Job Summary Provide technical expertise, guidance, and design support for the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of gas pipeline, measurement, regulation, and related facilities.
This role partners closely with Engineering, Operations, and other internal stakeholders to deliver safe, compliant, and cost‑effective technical solutions aligned with company standards, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
This role requires residence within 50 miles of a NiSource location in Virginia, Maryland, or Pennsylvania, with a preference for Chester, VA.
Based on skills, experience, and qualifications, candidates may be hired as a Gas Systems Design Engineer I, II, III, or Senior .
Final level placement will be determined during the selection process.
Essential Functions Provide technical guidance, assistance, and training related to the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of gas pipeline, measurement, regulation, and related facilities and equipment.
Provide technical mentoring and guidance to new and less experienced engineering personnel, as applicable by level.
Assist with the development of policies and procedures; evaluate materials and equipment; monitor industry trends; and recommend value‑added technologies, tools, and planning practices.
Participate in special projects and studies related to cost analysis, facility design, workload and time studies, environmental considerations, facility failures, and class location requirements.
Demonstrated project coordination or project management capability.
