Controls System Technician

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES - Install, calibrate, and commission instrumentation and control system components including sensors, transmitters, valves, actuators, and controllers - Perform routine preventive maintenance on PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and associated field devices - Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical, pneumatic, and control system faults using schematics, ladder logic, and diagnostic tools - Assist controls engineers with system upgrades, modifications, and startup activities - Monitor and maintain SCADA/HMI

QUALIFICATIONS - Associate's degree or technical diploma in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, Electronics, or a related field — or equivalent military/vocational training - 2+ years of hands-on
experience in industrial instrumentation and controls maintenance - Working knowledge of PLC systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and the ability to navigate and monitor ladder logic -
Experience with instrumentation calibration tools and procedures - Solid understanding of 4-20mA loops, HART communication, and discrete wiring - Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, and loop sheets - Familiarity with industrial safety practices including LOTO and electrical safety (NFPA 70E) PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS - ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) – Level I or II -
Experience with pneumatic and electro-pneumatic control valve maintenance - Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, EtherNet/IP) -
Experience using a CMMS (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo, Infor) - Knowledge of functional safety and safety instrumented systems (SIS) -
Experience in Oil & Gas / Manufacturing / Maritime PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS - Must be able to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in outdoor environments as needed - Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods - May require shift work, on-call rotation, or overtime during shutdowns and emergencies
