Requirements
- May be required to work at other Carilion facilities to meet staffing needs, in which case will provide own transportation.

- Bachelor's degree as Physical Therapist and 5 years of experience, OR Master's or Doctorate degree required. Experience:
- Experience in site specific level of care preferred but not required. For Home Health positions one year of clinical experience required.
- Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia by the Virginia Board of Physical Therapy.
- Life Support: AHA BLS-certified (from a Carilion approved program) within six months of employment. Other Minimum

- Employment Status: Variable / Flex Shift: Day (United States of America) Facility: 213 Gilbert St - Blacksburg Requisition Number: R156267 Physical Therapist- Flex/PRN (Open) How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare: Confirms and interprets physician referrals, performs patient assessments and plans and implements individualized treatment programs taking into account the patient’s developmental and/or chronological age and medical diagnoses in accordance with the regulations governing the principles
- Provides patient care based upon physician referral and age-appropriate assessment taking into consideration the patient’s developmental/chronological age and medical diagnoses when planning/implementing treatment programs designed to achieve goals set in conjunction with the patient and/or family member.
- Supervises PTAs and collaborates with other therapy staff, support staff, volunteers and students to achieve efficient clinical activity and quality patient care.
- Participates in other patient care and departmental/professional activities as requested/assigned including but not limited to presenting/attending in-services, performance improvement, program development/evaluation, new employee orientation, committee membership, peer review and attending staff meetings.
- Supervision – Supervises Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) as provided by State of Virginia licensure/practice standards and Federal regulations.
- Orients new employees and may provide guidance to volunteers, students, support, or contract staff.
- Communications – Communication commonly occurs with persons who have similar or different functions inside or outside the organization.
- May provide problem-solving, consultation, advising or interpretation services to others.
- May work with outside vendors, but does not have the authority to commit for the organization.
- Confidentiality – Access and exposure to patient information is required for the performance of the job.
