  • Experience in site specific level of care preferred but not required. For Home Health positions one year of clinical experience required.
  • Licensure/Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or eligible to complete clinical fellowship year (CFY); Licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Life Support : AHA BLS-certified (from a Carilion approved program) within six months of employment.
  • BLS-certified (from a Carilion approved program) within six months of employment.

  • Participates in other patient care and departmental/professional activities as requested/assigned including but not limited to presenting/attending in-services, performance improvement, program development/evaluation, new employee orientation, committee membership, peer review and attending staff meetings May supervise Speech Language Pathology students as provided by State of Virginia licensure/practice standards and Federal regulations.
  • Orients new employees and may provide guidance to volunteers, other students, support, or contract staff.
  • Communication commonly occurs with persons who have similar or different functions inside or outside the organization.
  • May provide problem-solving, consultation, advising or interpretation services to others.
  • May work with outside vendors but does not have the authority to commit for the organization.
  • Access and exposure to patient information is required for the performance of the job.
  • Suggests cost containment initiatives in immediate work unit/department.
  • Within scope of license, age-specific criteria and per physician referral, interprets physician orders, performs patient assessments, and plans and implements individualized patient treatment programs.
