Requirements
- Applies knowledge of growth and development to appropriately care for patients served.
- Obtains certification no later than 2 years after employment.
- Uses problem-solving methods to facilitate resolution to patient and personnel situations that present in the work area. What We Require: Education : Bachelors degree preferred.
- experience in an acute care setting in which lactation skills were utilized is required.
- Licensure/Certification : RN required: IBCLC required within the first 12 months of hire into this position.
- Other : Must successfully complete orientation and competency requirements.
- Must obtain/maintain CPR.

- Collaborates with members of the health care team/patient/family to develop, implement, and evaluate an age-specific interdisciplinary plan of care.
- Determines and performs within clinical, leadership, and/or education pathways to support (direct/indirect) evidence-based, quality patient care service and performance improvement.

- Utilizes delegation and critical thinking skills to provide quality service through a team oriented, collaborative approach to patient care.
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates breastfeeding in order to achieve optimum patient outcomes for mother/infant dyads as appropriate to service area.
- Ensures complete, accurate and timely documentation of care.
- Revises plan according to changes in patient status.
- Patient/family (caregiver) educational needs are identified in a timely manner, incorporated into the plan of care, implemented and documented appropriately.
- Consistently demonstrates the role of patient advocate, protector of patients rights, and provider of psychological/social/cultural support.
- Uses and cares for breastfeeding equipment and devices appropriately.
- Completes appropriate activities related to the rental or sale of all items in the Lactation Retail Center.
- Maintains professional conduct and practices in an ethical manner, accountable for professional actions and legal responsibilities.
- Maintains professional conduct and practices in an ethical manner adhering to the Standards of Practice and the IBLCE Code of Ethics.
