Genetics Laboratory Technician

Requirements

  • Molecular testing via PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) and Fragment analysis
  • Use of analyzer and other molecular diagnostic methods to generate STR (short tandem repeats) profiles of samples
  • Performs other duties as assigned. What do you need to succeed? EDUCATION: 4-year degree in Science-related field preferred, or current coursework.
  • Ability to set up high-throughput molecular reactions, specifically PCR (Polymerase Chain reaction) reactions.
  • Organized with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as appropriate.
  • Personal computer skills, including strong typing ability and proficient use of Microsoft Office. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • May be required to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate verbally on phone and in person.
  • Fluency in the English language.
