Responsibilities
- Implement Emergency Incident Action and Evacuation Plans.
- Inspect areas to identify and correct any egress barriers, mitigate fire hazards, and ensure clear, unobstructed evacuation routes.
- Address daily emergencies and non-emergencies as they arise, exercising considerable judgment and initiative until additional emergency services arrive.
- Enforce NYRA Fire Safety Rules, Regulations, and Procedures among employees, vendors, and guests, documenting and issuing violations as necessary.
- Perform related duties as directed by NYRA Management.
Requirements
- Must be able to work on a racing schedule Wednesday through Sunday.
- You must be able to remain on your feet for extended periods, with extensive walking and stair use.
- You must have no fear of horses and be comfortable working in large crowd venues.
- Qualifications: Qualifications and Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED Minimum of either: 3 years of
- experience as a professional firefighter working for a career department, or 5 years of
- Must possess and maintain a valid NYS Driver License Current CPR certification from an accredited provider.
- Completion of ICS courses 100, 700, and 800 is required.
- Preferred Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with proficiency in English.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with diverse individuals and groups Skills Proficiency: Must meet NFPA 1001 standards (or New York State equivalent) for fire safety professionals. Prior
- experience with a career or volunteer Fire Department is required, along with a proven track record in dealing with large crowds and effectively communicating to de-escalate stressful situations.
- Customer relations skills and the ability to observe, objectively report, and clearly communicate during emergencies are essential.
- Proven ability to assess and mitigate hazardous conditions effectively.
