Responsibilities
- Investor Engagement: Serve as the company’s primary spokesperson with institutional investors and sell-side analysts. Own the investor conference strategy and calendar and investor day planning.
- Lead 13F analysis and proactive outreach aligned to Marqeta’s strategic milestones.
- Track record of building productive relationships with buy-side investors and sell-side analysts at a publicly traded company.
Requirements
- IR Function Development: Evaluate and implement processes, tools, and systems to professionalize and scale the IR function as the company grows, leveraging AI to enhance efficiency. Who You Are
- Finance, economics, accounting, or related degree, with MBA or CFA noted as a plus.
- experience in investor relations, equity research, investment banking, FP&A, or institutional investing — with a meaningful IR track record at a publicly traded company. Demonstrated
- Familiarity with payments, fintech, or transaction-based business models
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex financial and technical concepts into clear, investor-grade language.
- Proven ability to operate with discretion, independence, and sound judgment in a fast-moving, high-accountability environment.
- Experience at a publicly traded payments network, card issuer, or embedded finance company.
- Experience managing an IR team

- Compensation is aligned according to three tiers within the United States:
- Premium : Slightly elevated from the National tier, and oriented toward a narrower set of higher cost-of-living areas, such as Los Angeles CA and Seattle WA
- Premium Plus : A tier for the most expensive working areas, like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City.
- When determining salaries, we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base salary range for this position is:
- National: $217,800 - $272,200
- Premium: $235,700 - $294,600
- Premium Plus: $256,200 - $320,200

- As Marqeta's Senior Director, Investor Relations , you will lead and evolve the company's IR program during a pivotal period of growth and strategic transformation.
- Reporting directly to the SVP, Head of IR, you will serve as the primary architect of Marqeta's investment narrative and a trusted partner to executive leadership, the Board of Directors, and the global investment community.
- You are a finance athlete — equally comfortable modeling the income statement, building earnings messaging, engaging with analysts and shareholders, and advising the C-suite on how the market is pricing Marqeta’s story.
- You bring intellectual horsepower, executive presence, and a deep command of what moves investor sentiment in the high-growth fintech and payments space.
- You translate Marqeta’s complex, multi-faceted platform business into a compelling and credible financial narrative — and you make every touchpoint with the Street count.

- Earnings & Disclosure: Lead preparation of all quarterly earnings materials — press releases, earnings supplements, CFO/CEO scripts, and Q&A — with the rigor of an operator and the polish of a communicator.
- Shareholder Relations: Build and maintain deep, relationship-driven coverage across long-only funds, hedge funds, and index/passive holders.
- Board & Executive Reporting: Provide board-level reporting on shareholder composition, activist monitoring, peer benchmarking, and market sentiment.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on how the market is interpreting Marqeta’s results and strategy.
