Requirements
- The Advanced Practice Provider demonstrates knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and assesses data reflective of the patient’s status.
- What We Require: Education: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Program or Accredited Physician Assistant Program.
- experience may be required for some specialties.
- If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required.
- Life Support: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position. Other Minimum
- Computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.

- She/he serves as a member of a collaborative health care team.
- Discriminates between normal and abnormal physical, psychological, and developmental findings, and appropriately determines when to consult with and/or refer to other members of the health care team.
- Provides patient/family education, develops plans for continued health care management, and promotes health maintenance activities for patients.
- Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic’s malpractice insurance carrier.
- Able to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers.
- The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those stated in this description. Compensation Range: $107,993.60 - $172,785.60 Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience.

- This collaborative role includes responsibility for determining the patient’s health and medical status by taking a health history; performing physical exams; initiating screening and diagnostic procedures; providing health maintenance services; and management of pregnancy, minor trauma, acute illnesses, and stable chronic illness.
- Consults with physician, as appropriate, keeping the physician informed of needs and problems related to patient care.
- The Advanced Practice Provider interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s
- requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and provides care according to departmental policies and procedures.
- The Advanced Practice Provider (Specialty) Provides quality service in a caring and professional manner.
- Actively commits to team efforts, provision for cost effectiveness, service excellence, and respect for everyone by demonstrating actions which support Carilion Clinic.
- Performs physical, psychological, and developmental assessments using appropriate techniques based on age.
- Assesses and manages acute illness, pregnancy, minor trauma and chronic illness and conditions.
- Initiates, implements, and prescribes appropriate treatment plans consulting with the physician as needed.
- Administers medications and injections as appropriate.
