Requirements

- The Interventional Radiology Nurse delivers nursing care to patients in the Interventional Radiology and Neurointerventional Radiology department, assesses patient condition and takes immediate action in Emergency situations.
- Responds to patient care needs before, during, and after procedures including assessment of condition, cardiac arrest, and intravenous problems.
- Collaborates with members of the health care team/patient/family to develop, implement, and evaluate an age-specific interdisciplinary plan of care.
- Determines and performs within clinical, leadership, and/or education pathways to support (direct/indirect) evidenced based, quality patient care service and performance improvement.

- Assumes primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages.
- Completes focused assessments of patients undergoing procedures and/or sedation of all ages in a timely manner.
- Performs preexamination and post examination assessments for angiography, CT scan and other special procedures.
- Follows established standards and practice under the direction of a credentialed radiologist, credentialed invasive cardiologist or credentialed intravascular surgeon.
- Administers treatments and medications for patients of all ages and documented utilizing automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
- Patient/family (caregiver) educational needs are identified in a timely manner, incorporated into the plan of care, implemented and documented appropriately.
- Plans strategies to reduce length of stay, turnaround time, resource consumption and improve patient outcomes.
- Demonstrates flexibility with scheduling; able to prioritize competing needs.
- Completes manager/director predetermined projects within specified time frame and according to pre-established guidelines.
- Provides feedback to staff using appropriate communication and documentation.
