Responsibilities
- Identify and track proposed bills, regulations, and policy positions at the state and municipal levels that are relevant to Samsara, assessing their potential impact, developing strategies for engagement, and keeping the business informed.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant governors, mayors, state legislators, regulatory officials, and trade associations.
- Manage outside consultants to expand our reach in key state markets.
- Collaborate with other Samsarians in the creation of content (collateral, blog posts, etc.) that articulate Samsara’s vision and values in a manner that is compelling to policymakers.
- Champion, role model, and embody Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team).

- Bachelor’s degree required.
- experience and an in-depth understanding of the policymaking process and government relations in the United States.
- experience in state and local government affairs and advocacy (e.g., legislative wins, relationships with officials, involvement with third parties, etc.).
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to concisely summarize policy issues and advocacy points. •
- Experience managing multiple high-priority projects simultaneously in a fast-moving, dynamic environment.
- Ability to thrive in new situations, learn quickly, jump in, and responsibly manage one’s own time and deliverables in a remote work environment.
- Passion for and knowledge of emerging technology and related public policy issues. •
- Experience in state or local government, in advocacy, or in-house on issues facing highly regulated industries. Knowledge and In-house
- experience at another technology company.
- The ability to effectively translate government-to-business and business-to-government issues.
- The ability to issue spot, identifying potential opportunities for sales enablement and challenges before they materialize.

- Annual Base Salary $90,737.50 — $137,250 USD Total Rewards

- Our team works closely with lawmakers, regulatory bodies, trade associations, industry experts and others to proactively engage in initiatives that advance Samsara’s business interests.
- Internally, our efforts support innovative work across the business, including the engineering, product, strategy, legal, and partnerships teams.
- The ideal candidate will enjoy serving as a key contributor on a diverse range of substantive advocacy initiatives, aid in identifying opportunities for sales enablement and engagement, developing creative strategies and content, and representing Samsara externally to key stakeholders in state and local government and allied third parties.
- This role is open to candidates residing in the US except the San Francisco Bay Metro Area, NYC Metro Area, and Washington, D.C. Metro Area.
