Requirements
- You will provide nursing care that includes taking the patient's blood pressure, checking their oxygen levels and temperature, as well as assisting patients of all sexes and genders with bathing, meals, toileting, ambulation, and other basic needs.
- The Patient Care Tech/Nursing Assistant role can include one-on-one care of patients on suicide or safety precautions. Successful candidate MUST BE able to attend required orientation classes during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm for the first 2 weeks.
- As part of the health care team, the Patient Care Technician performs basic clerical and technical clinical services relating to the care, cleanliness, safety, and comfort for patients of all ages.
- Provides basic nursing care and performs advanced technical skills for specified age groups according to established standards.
- Exhibits competent knowledge of EMR and assists with chart audits.
- Job Scope: May be required to support multiple nursing units.
- If assigned to perform patient care tasks, must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development through the life span, possess the ability to recognize and report data reflective of the patient’s status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s
- May be required to sit with patients on suicide precautions or confusion.
- Ability to perform responsibilites in a fast-paced environment, requiring use of prioritization and time mangement skills.
- May be required to work at multiple Carilion facilities.

- experience in direct patient care preferred.
- If employee is working in a critical access facility, a Certified Nursing Assistant is required.
- Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required within 6 months of hire. Other Minimum

- Assists with customer service in way-finding, answering phones, making meaningful connections with patient and visitors Processes equipment between patients as needed (cleans unit based equipment and gathers supplies needed to operate equipment).
