Worker Type Regular Job Description Summary The Senior Components Engineer sources, selects, and qualifies components used in the company's technology.
Investigates alternate component technologies or supplies, reducing cost and improving quality and reliability.
This individual acts as technical interface between component/production suppliers and development engineers, determining new and alternate sources. Position
Responsibilities Maintains and provides expertise regarding electronic components and works with electrical engineers, suppliers, and electronics manufacturing to maintain AV's product.
Assists design engineers in the selection of electrical parts that best fit their requirements.
Participates in design reviews for the purpose of component selection and standardization.
Establishes and maintains a specification system for off-the-shelf parts.
Generates specifications for all new component parts.
Coordinates failure analysis and corrective activities on component parts Develops guidelines/procedures on vendor selection.
Evaluates supplier change notification and qualifies changes, as needed Present at and participate in design reviews and walk-throughs Makes decisions that have significant impact on project costs and schedule.
