Design, build, and improve authentication and identity experiences that are seamless for individual users and robust for large enterprises
Integrate and maintain relationships with identity providers - understanding their protocols, limitations, and security models
Build systems that handle security-sensitive flows reliably, with observability, auditability, and fault tolerance
Enable other engineering teams by establishing standardised authentication practices and advising on identity patterns for new products and integrations
Collaborate across teams - understanding what Security needs, what Sales is selling to enterprise customers, and what Support is hearing from organisations
Requirements
experience with enterprise requirements.
We’re also learning together - experimenting with AI adoption, refining how we work, and building skills we didn’t have yesterday. What you'll do
Work on SSO and SAML integrations, SCIM-based provisioning, domain control, email verification, and password authentication flows
Stay curious about identity, security, distributed systems, and AI adoption in software development Who you are
responsibilities will involve backend development in Ruby.
Experience with authentication, identity management, SSO, or protocols like SAML, OIDC, and OAuth - you understand the domain and its quirks •
Familiarity with distributed systems thinking - understanding event-driven architecture, idempotency, and failure modes
Experience working on products with both end users and internal stakeholders - Security, Sales, Support - and understanding their needs •
Experience enabling other teams - advising on best practices, reviewing integration designs, or maintaining shared libraries
Interest in AI adoption and how AI tools can improve our development process It's okay if you don't have Specific
experience with authentication or identity protocols (domain knowledge is learnable)
Deep infrastructure expertise (curiosity and willingness to learn matter more) Ruby
experience (we value engineers who are problem solvers and have a growth mindset) How we work with AI
We're actively building AI into how we build software - and as part of the product itself.
Our teams regularly share workflows, and lessons learned, and we treat AI adoption and fluency as a skill we're all developing together - both in how we build and in what we build for our customers.
AI and Hiring at Mentimeter
At Mentimeter, we believe AI helps us work smarter - but it never replaces the human assessment, curiosity, and personal connection that define our culture and our hiring.
We use AI as a sparring partner: to bounce ideas, bring new perspectives, support structure, and make our work more efficient.
AI does not screen or decide on candidates.
Hiring teams may use AI to support their work - for example, to structure notes, prepare interview questions, or organize their thinking.
AI strengthens our work, but it does not define it.
At Mentimeter, we’re not building an AI-driven hiring process - we’re building a people-first culture, where technology helps us listen, learn, and grow together.
We strongly encourage applicants who are people of color, LGBTQ+, women, people with disabilities, and/or formerly incarcerated people, and a college degree is not strictly required.

Additional details
Mentimeter is an engagement tool with a clear goal in mind.
Through real-time interactivity and clear visualizations, we get people to participate, engage and become more productive.
Transforming all those passive meetings, airless classrooms and drawn out trainings into valuable and memorable moments.
We truly believe that you achieve the best results by doing things together.
And that successful leaders need to adopt a curious and collaborative mindset in order to get there.
So with you at Mentimeter, you’ll be a big part of the ambition to help over 1 billion people listen, learn and work better together. The role
The Identity team owns the enterprise-grade identity surface of Mentimeter: SSO and SAML authentication, SCIM-based user provisioning, domain control, and email verification among others.
Our mission is to create intuitive, scalable solutions for identity management of users and participants - lowering the threshold for enterprises to start adopting our enterprise offering with minimal support.
That means everything from a first-time user signing in seamlessly, to enabling organisations of tens of thousands to onboard into their workspace smoothly through automated provisioning and access management.
Beyond our own systems, we act as an enabling function for other teams - advising on standardized authentication practices across Mentimeter’s products, and ensuring that both internal and external integrations follow consistent, secure patterns.
