Responsibilities
- Design and build robust, scalable backend systems and APIs across Segment’s data platform.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with design, product, and other engineers to define solutions that balance usability, performance, and long-term architecture.
- Troubleshoot and improve system reliability, debugging issues and refining operational tooling and processes.
- Building products or tools that are currently using A.I. •
Requirements

- We’re excited to work at the cutting edge of data and artificial intelligence, such as with our AI-Assisted Suggest Mappings product .
- We iterate quickly on these products and features and learn new things daily — all while writing quality code using the latest AI tools.
- Experience programming in one or more of the following: Go, Java, Python, or similar languages •
- Experience operating large-scale, distributed systems on top of cloud infrastructure such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) Have hands-on
- experience with container orchestration frameworks (e.g. Kubernetes, EKS, ECS) Have
- experience with large scale async processing systems •
- Good grasp of software engineering and how to build a system in scalable and extensive manner;
- Leverage best-in-class development productivity practices including AI tooling. Desired:
- Experience working with event streaming technologies (Kafka, Pulsar, or similar).
- Familiarity with database technologies like PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
- Experience working in a geographically distributed team. Location: This role will be remote, but is not eligible to be hired in CA, CT, NJ, NY, PA, WA.
- Additionally, Twilio participates in the E-Verify program in certain locations, as required by law.

- No mandatory travel is anticipated. Compensation: *Please note this role is open to candidates outside of California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington D.C., and Washington State.
- The information below is provided for candidates hired in those locations only. The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:
- $116,960.00 to $146,200.00.
- Based in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay a rea): $123,760.00 to $154,700.00).
- Based in the San Francisco Bay area, California: $137,520.00 to $171,900.00).
- This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are generally eligible for the following
- benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
