Responsibilities
- Lead the daily operations of the Revenue Accounting function, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities for all revenue-related accounts.
- Mentor and develop junior staff, providing guidance on complex revenue recognition issues and best practices.
- Collaborate extensively with Product, Data, Operations, and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) teams to ensure accurate revenue reporting and proper revenue forecasting.
- Manage the end-to-end revenue process from contract review to billing, collection, and reconciliation, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 .
- Analyze partnership customer contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment, including identifying performance obligations, transaction price, and allocation.
- Prepare and review critical revenue journal entries , reconciliations, and supporting documentation for deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, and accounts receivable.
- Maintain and update the company's revenue accounting policies and procedures documentation.
- Oversee the calculation of commissions . Process & System Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of the revenue close process.
- Lead or actively participate in the implementation and optimization of revenue recognition modules within the ERP system (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) or specialized revenue management software.
- Develop and maintain key revenue reporting metrics and dashboards for management review.
Requirements
- The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in revenue accounting, strong leadership skills, and a proven ability to drive efficiency and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. •
- experience in accounting, with at least 4+ years focused specifically on technical revenue recognition gained in a marketplace, platform, FinTech or SaaS revenue environment.
- Technical Expertise: Deep, practical working knowledge of ASC 606 .
